IHCA-ICAL Nurse Management Training for Skilled Nursing Facilities: Quality of Care Module

This session reviewed basics of a quality improvement system, including a reference to the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s Model for Improvement using Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles.  Beyond the basics, a model for quick root cause analysis and event investigation using the 5 why’s and reference to The Just Culture for appropriate response to behavior choices and focus on system re-design.  Although this training was designed for the SNF audience, any healthcare leader who would like to create a more systematic and effective process for improving pressure ulcer prevention and implementing clinical best practices would benefit from this information.
